Travelers Checklist

  • Immunizations (visit Vaccinations page for more details) - not required
  • Malaria Medication must be started 1 to 2 weeks before travel - check with your doctor - recommended
  • Get a prescription of Antibiotics from your doctor if you can (diarrhea is the most common travel related ailment and an antibiotic and an anti diarrhea drug should be started promptly if significant diarrhea occurs)
  • Personal Prescriptions (anything you take on a regular basis)
  • Passport (with at least 6 months expiration from May 2019)
  • Tanzania Visa
  • Travelers Insurance - recommended
  • Spending Money
  • Make copies of all records including passport and email it to yourself so you always have it while traveling and cc us in case of emergency

Traveler’s Packing List

Travel Tip - It’s good to pack your bag 3 days or more before you leave to decrease last minute stress.
Bags are limited to 50lbs - best to weigh your bag before arriving at the airport
prepare to dress in layers (weather will be similar to California – 70’s but with chance of rain)
consider taking clothes you can leave/donate and please don’t over pack - there is laundry service at your cost most places that we will be staying

  • 1 to 2 pair shorts - no short shorts please
  • 1 to 3 pair pants
  • swim suit - there will be a pool at most places we stay
  • yoga attire and yoga mat
  • shirts; short and long sleeve - no low cut tops for girls, no tank tops (unless worn as under shirt),
  • underwear
  • socks
  • tennis shoes – will get dirty/muddy
  • hoodie, sweat shirt, and/or light jacket
  • for sun protection: wide brimmed hat or baseball cap, bandanna or scarf suggested to protect your neck
  • dress for girls should be knee length or below
  • toiletries: if you bring a hair dryer voltage in Tanzania is 220, (flat irons do not work without a converter), also bring a travel size toilet paper (trust me, you will want this)
  • chewable pepto, immodium, tylenol and advil (enough for every day if needed)
  • small flashlight
  • sunglasses
  • back pack for day
  • no flashy jewelry - you don’t want to draw that kind of attention
  • rain coat or poncho
 
Pack in your Carry on:
  • Passport/Visa
  • Money/cash to exchange in crisp, new $100's and $50's (we will take you to exchange money)
  • Malaria medication and any other medications

Don’t Forget:
  • bug spray
  • sun screen
  • wet wipes/ hand sanitizer
  • first aid

Extras to Consider:
  • vitamins suggested - multi vitamin daily & vitamin C as needed
  • camera
  • binoculars for safari
  • journal
  • book
  • headphones and tablet or portable video game player (for travel time)
  • adapter plug (type G) for any rechargeable electronics
  • money belt and passport holder
  • travel size laundry detergent suggested (small tablets only, no liquid detergent for washing underwear & socks in a sink)
  • snacks: small and portable; avoid things that melt
